Friday in the Children's Emergency Room

This was a fun-filled Friday. Carmen ended up in the ER at Children's due to a bad bump on the head. She actually got it the day before trying to run after Kaitlin on the sidewalk and taking a huge fall. Archie and I both cringed at the sound of it. She's fine, though. The CT scan was negative. I took her in because she threw up afterwards and that can be a sign of a concussion. Her pediatrician said she'd probably be fine but take her in anyway, just to be sure.

On another note, Kaitlin has decided that she's a big girl suddenly. She took a letter to the mailbox (one house away) by herself while I was watching and told me, "Don't worry, Mom, if someone stops to talk to me in their car, I will run back to the porch." Cracked me up. First of all, because I was standing on the porch, but also because it was kinda cute to see her trying to be all big and comforting me. I had a big smile and a warm spot in my heart watching her put the envelope in the mail slot and then asking me if it was the right spot. Independent and yet still dependent.

Surprise!

Surprise!
Kaitlin and Archie came home with this surprise from the grocery store. Kaitlin REALLY wanted to give them to me. She is very sweet and thoughtful like that (and so is Archie to take her with him and let her do this). Tulips remind me of Seattle a lot. Every spring about two hours north of Seattle, there is a tulip festival we liked to see.
